Sejin, 10 days in Estonia, with an order-book of 2,8 M euro.
In May 2021 EMI started cooperation between our founder Argo Sildvee long time friend Heeju Kim from Sejin Technical Industries Co. Ltd South-Korea. The initial task was to support them with mock-up furniture and materials for one of the project they where running on in Korea.
9 months later Heeju Kim the President of Sejin landed in Tallinn together with he´s team to learn more about possibilities in Estonia and it was not just for one day trip they came for full 10 days. With full schedule prepared together with EMI, we met with 12 companies and service providers here in Estonia. Why so, because our mock-up furniture what was made 6 months ago was so good that they wished to purchase majority of it from Estonia.
Estonian key players like SunShip, Plaat Detail, DivaSoft, Repston, Marmi Futerno, EstPly and Velvet Engineering are part of the supply change manufacturing or designing products for the IOM Steam Packet new Ro-Pax class vessel called Manxman, with the delivery end of the year 2022. The ship is built in Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in Ulsan, South-Korea and its designed by award winning international design studio SMC Design .
What does this contract mean for Estonian companies. The total scope of order-book is round 2,8 M eur what needs to be ready in Estonia by end of June 2022 and 80% of it is already approved, paid and in production. Secondly this is a proof that we can supply form Estonia a full range of products and services as far as South — Korea. Third we made sure that we are not just delivering components, we are delivering full ready-made furniture for all the cabins and public area on the ship.
We are working with the best design studio specifications, to make this ship come together as the owner and designer have dreamed. EMI and Argo Sildvee are so proud of the companies who have put lot of effort in to this project and have believed on us that this is possible and can be done from so far away. Secondly EMI and Argo Sildvee are thankful for the trust Sejin and Mr. Heeju Kim has given us, it is a blessing for all of us working with them now and in the coming future.
During the visit to Estonia Sejin and EMI where hosted for early breakfast meeting in EAS by Rafael Jimenez. We spoke about tightening business relations and also how can Sejin use more Estonian companies in coming future. And we spoke about the recent opening of Estonia Embassy to South Korea, along with export advisor Soonhee Bae in the Enterprise Estonia team is very promising, and mid-March, a visit to Sejin factory is planned by Embassy staff. EMI can not wait for the impressions and pictures of this visit.
But this is just a beginning, we have some amazing plans ahead or the coming years to make our cooperation even stronger in many fields. In June 2022 we will start working on next four ships interior. But about this we will share more info in coming months, now we focus on our first delivery.
